The Handmade Jewellers

DOCUMENTARY TV SERIES ABOUT HANDMADE JEWELLEry Makers

I am so excited to share THE HANDMADE JEWELLERS - a BRAND NEW TV documentary series that I have filmed with five talented jewellers.

In this short series premiering live on YouTube, come on a journey of discovery with me, Jessica Rose. I meet jewellers who are creating and selling their work, building their own businesses. We get a tour of their workshops and a look at the tools they love! Plus they teach me a new jewellery making skill.

I’d love you to meet The Handmade Jewellers.

All five of the episodes in this series have now premiered and are ready to binge watch! Each episode features a different jeweller so you don’t need to watch them in order.

episode 1: Anna Sweet

Anna Sweet is the founder of This Story Jewellery and lives in Margate, England.

She creates mini wearable pieces of art using the lost wax casting technique. Anna talks about her journey into jewellery making, the ups and downs and the importance of building community.

episode 2: Susannah King

Susannah King creates stunning fine art jewellery using silver, gold and gemstones. Her work is big, bold and unapologetically colourful. Her last collection sold more than £20k rings in 2 minutes on TikTok.

Susannah makes using the lost wax carving technique, having the wax cast in metal and setting the stunning gemstones.

episode 3: Ange B

Ange B works as a jeweller alongside her part time job as a physiotherapist. Her style is architectural and she works predominantly in silver and gold making one off pieces as well as collections for her ever growing customer base.

Ange is also a great teacher and she shows me how to make a spoon in our episode so we had a lot of fun with hammers!

episode 4: Iain Sainsbury

Iain is a jeweller based in Cambridge, England. After a long, successful career in the pharmaceutical industry, he gave up his corporate job to focus on making.

He makes his fine jewellery collection from gold, silver and gemstones and enjoys working with a vast array of tools! In the episode, Iain shows us delft casting.

episode 5: Sima Vaziry

Sima Vaziry has her own jewellery shop on the South Bank in London at the prestigious OXO Tower. She has also been selling her work in the British Museum for over a decade. Her work is inspired by Afghan, Persian and Middle Eastern Art and architecture. She makes her work using silver metal clay combined with gold and traditional silver working skills.

All of these inspiring jewellers are so different, have different styles, workshop spaces, training and backgrounds, ages and walks of life and they are all thriving in their own unique way. I can’t wait for you to learn more about them, which will, no doubt inspire you along your own special journey
