How to Sell Your Jewellery in Shops & Galleries

Preparation - have your work ready in collections, this makes it easy for the shop to sell! You’ll need great photos and take a look at your pricing making sure you have wholesale and retail prices.

Create your line sheet - this can be a helpful tool featuring photos of your work and information about the piece including the prices.

Research your stores - where do you want your jewellery to be sold? Is it in a small indie retailer or do you dream of being in a big department store? Wherever it may be, make a list and try to find out who the buyer is? This might be the owner or there might be a buying department.

Contact the stores - this could be via email or phone or a face to face appointment. Try not to arrive unannounced as you don’t want to go at a busy time or when the person you need to speak to isn’t available! You are pitching yourself and your jewellery so that prep work comes in to play. You’ll need all your information and be confident, if going in person be sure to take some examples and leave a business card. This visit can always be followed up via email.

Be ready to start collecting no’s - not everyone will be in a position to take on new stock or your jewellery might not be the right fit for their store.
