what’s your word of the year for 2023?
Blog
Have you ever chosen a word of the year?
If you like the idea of starting the new year with a fresh attitude but struggle with the idea of resolutions then a word of the year could be the answer for you.
The premise is to choose one word that sums up what you want 2023 to be about for you. This is something you can come back to when you are making decisions to ensure that your focus fits in with the theme you have chosen for your year.
In 2022 I chose the word CONNECT. For 2023 my word is CALM. For me, choosing my word is about how I want to feel through my year - in my business and my home life. I write it down and make sure I have it visible near my computer and on my fridge to help remind me.
Here are some words/ideas to get you thinking:

How do I choose my word?
Think about your hopes and aims for 2023. It could be personally or it could be for your jewellery business (or both!)
Is there just one word or theme you can choose to sum this up?
It can be useful to look through the list of words above and see which resonate with you. Write down a shortlist of words and then leave it aside for a while and come back to it.
Then pick out one word and think about how it can relate to what you hope for in 2023. Often the right word will have a lot of different meanings for you and will be the obvious choice. If that’s not the case for you don’t worry! Let your unconscious mind have some time to process this and come back to your list later.
How to use your word
Once you have decided on your word write it down somewhere you can see it every day. You may even want to create a piece of art with it, buy a postcard with it on or make a piece of jewellery with it on.
In the busyness of day-to-day-life use the word as a touchstone - something to go back and look at regularly to ensure you’re on track and that what you are doing is moving you towards your goals.
I find choosing and using my word a very powerful way of shaping my year so I hope you will give it a try alongside me.
