Craft fair checklist for jewellers

There’s a lot to think about when doing a market or craft fair, so we thought it might be handy to put together a handy checklist so that you can make sure you’re totally prepared!

Jewellery Craft Fairs

We’re coming up to one of the busiest times for craft fairs and markets - Christmas! The biggest date on a jewellery designer’s calendar. It really is the best time to make sales as everyone is looking for that extra special gift for a loved one.

You’re probably already busy making all of your stock to take with you, so the last thing on your list will be thinking about everything else you need to take to set up your ‘shop front’!

So we thought it might be handy to put together a checklist so that you can make sure you’ve everything you need on the day and feel fully prepared!

So here you go:

  • A card reader (eg. Paypal, Square Up, izettle etc)

  • Receipt Book

  • Order form - if you are offering some items made to order

  • Cash box or safe for taking money

  • Some change for people paying with cash

  • Gift vouchers and envelopes (it’s a great idea to have a gift voucher that people can redeem on your stall or online)

  • Your stand sign/logo

  • Business cards

  • Busts, stands, plinths - anything you need to help you display

  • Props - anything extra to decorate your stand

  • A table cloth - not all markets or fairs provide these

  • Lighting - jewellery always looks best well lit

  • Shelving or lockable cabinets - to maximise your display area/keep things safe if unattended

  • A mirror so that people can try on and see how your jewellery looks!

  • Your jewellery!

  • Price display or labels

  • Tissue Paper

  • Boxes/packaging/pouches etc

  • Sellotape

  • Scissors

  • Blu tack

  • Pliers - just in case something small needs fixing or changing over

  • Polishing cloths

  • A sign-up to your mailing list sheet and pen (Do make sure it is GDPR compliant)

  • Your lunch and a drink - don’t forget you need feeding and watering!

Some extras you may need:

  • Making equipment (if you like to make at your stand)

  • Warm clothes if you are at an outdoor event - lots of layers

  • A fully charged phone so you can take some pictures

  • A portable phone charger incase you run out of juice.

What do you take to your craft fairs? Let us know in the comments!

Have a great week,
