How Do I Plan My Time for My Jewellery Diploma?
Blog
I am often asked, I work full time, can I fit in completing a Diploma course too? The answer is yes! Our Diploma programmes are designed to be flexible with additional time built in for catching up. Here, I share some tips on how to schedule your time during the Diploma.
What is the time commitment for completing the Diploma?
We recommend that you give yourself 6-8 hours per week to complete your Diploma work. The content of the course is released on a Monday morning and you have until the next Monday to schedule time to make the pieces. You get lifetime access to the Diploma course modules so they don’t disappear! You can always go back to them.
Some students set aside a day per week to work on the course. Students that work full time, have childcare commitments etc split the time up, working in 2 or 3-hour blocks. Whatever works for you is what to do!
When we taught our Diploma courses at the London Jewellery School (prior to bringing them online) we taught the course from 10-5pm one day a week with an hour lunch break so the students completed the work in 6 hours per week.
How is the course organised?
The course is split into three terms of 10 weeks, roughly following the English school term.
Term 1 is September to December
Term 2 is January to March
Term 3 is April to July
At the end of terms 1 and 2 there are an additional two weeks before your assessment deadline. That gives you time to catch up with any work you need to catch up on - it is designed to cover holiday, illness, work commitments etc
At the end of term 3 there is an additional four weeks before your deadline to complete your term 3 work and your final project.
Just a note on the assessment deadline - the deadline is the same wherever you are in the world. We know that if you are in Australia, for example, it will take longer for your work to arrive with us than if you are in the UK but that’s fine.
We have had hundreds of students successfully complete Diploma courses online with us. The course has accountability and mentoring built in to help you keep on track. If you are committed to finding a way to do it then I 100% know that you will succeed.
