how to make jewellery from silver clay
Would you like to try making jewellery with silver clay but don’t know where to start? Here’s what you need to know to give it a try.
What is silver clay?
Silver clay is a manufactured material made from silver particles, an organic binder and water. The clay can be moulded, shaped and textured. Once it is dry it can be fired with a jewellers torch (a creme brule torch will do!) or in a jewellers kiln. The result is real 999 fine silver of hallmark quality.
The main brands of silver clay are Art Clay and PMC (Precious Metal Clay).
We recommend you start with either of these as they are, from our experience, the easiest to work with and the most consistent to fire.
