questions to ask your Bride when creating their Bridal Headpiece
You can create so many different styles of bridal hairpieces but how do you make sure it will be perfect for your bride? Would they suit a tiara or would a beautiful beaded hair vine fit their look? Here are some questions to ask the bride to ensure you nail it.
Your Brides Style
What is the theme of the wedding?
How do you want to feel on your wedding day?
Find out about your bride’s style and if the wedding has any theme/feel to it. Your bride might be going for a very traditional, white wedding and love the idea of a fabulous tiara. A relaxed, no-fuss bride might love the idea of floral hair vine, something very pretty but not too formal.
The Dress

Will you be changing your clothes during the day? Do you have an evening outfit?
A detailed dress with lots of embellishments paired with an equally detailed headpiece might overpower your bride. Find out where she would like the focus to be so she can still shine through. Megan Markle is a great example of a bride with a very simple dress paired with an elaborate headpiece.
You might also use the dress to influence what colour materials you work with, if it’s an ivory or off white outfit, a similar shade of pearls would pair well. A bright white dress might see you working with silver, shimmery shades.
The Hair
How do you plan to wear your hair?
Has your bride decided on her hairstyle? A hair comb would look lovely paired with a neat bun. A selection of pins would look beautiful scattered through a relaxed updo.
Other Accessories
Will you be wearing a veil?
Will you be wearing other jewellery?
Will your bride be wearing a veil? Your hair pieces will need to work with it if so, you might want to think about slightly more understated pieces or go for something showier if not. Is your bride thinking about any other jewellery pieces for her big day? Depending on what else she is wearing, you might need to adapt your designs. You could also take inspiration for colours or materials. If she doesn’t normally wear a lot of jewellery, then too many accessories might make her uncomfortable.
Comfort and Fit
The big day is a long one and if she is wearing her hairpieces all day, she is going to want to be comfortable. One of the reasons your bride might be looking for a bespoke piece is to make sure the fit is perfect. If you are able to meet your bride in person, you can use a tape measure or a length of ribbon to measure her head. Make sure all your ends are well finished and wrapped securely, the piece should be beautifully made and finished.
