SIX WAYS TO PERSONALISE YOUR JEWELLERY DESIGNS

Blog

Personalised jewellery makes a lovely gift and it is a very popular jewellery business idea. There are so many ways to personalise jewellery for the wearer. Here are six ideas to inspire you.

  1. name

One of the easiest ways to personalise a piece of jewellery is to add a name.

You can purchase metal letter stamps for stamping into sheet silver. Alternatively, you can use silver clay and letter stamps designed for them as in the example below.

There are lots of different fonts to choose from, capitals, italic - the choice is yours!

2. INITIALS

Initials are great for cufflinks. I made these for my brother in law’s wedding. His cufflinks say YNWA which stands for You’ll Never Walk Alone (he’s a Liverpool fan and it is also a great wedding sentiment from my sister!). The other cufflinks were for his best men and feature their initials.

3. SIGNIFICANT Date

A significant date is a great option - a birth date, wedding date, date of meeting, date of first date etc etc!

4. COORDINATES

Another quirky option is to include the coordinates that have meaning for the purchaser - the place they were born, the place they got engaged, got married etc

Coordinates look like this 55.948887624557216 N, -3.2007267608853867 W

You can find coordinates for anywhere in the world using Google Maps. Here is how >

5. BIRTHSTONE

Creating a piece of jewellery with the person’s birthstone to a design is a lovely touch. It can be a personalised piece but not as obvious as one with a name or initials on.

You could also design a piece with a number of birthstones in it to represent a family, for example.

6. FINGERPRINT

The ultimate in personalisation, fingerprint jewellery is very popular. This technique is achieved using silver clay. Fingerprints of children are often made into pieces for family members.
