Your questions answered

For a complete beginner, is it best to do the Foundation in Silver Jewellery first?
We do have a five week Foundation in Silver Jewellery with mentor support, materials and toolkit available. If you haven’t tried silver jewellery making before this is a great first step to see if you enjoy it. It is designed as a perfect pre-course for the Diploma in Silver Jewellery and the next intake starts in January 2025. You can find out more here >

Can I take this course from anywhere in the world?
There are no region restrictions, you can take this course from anywhere in the world.
If you find sourcing tools and materials difficult in your country then we do strongly recommend purchasing the tools and materials pack from us. You get what you need and we even cut the metal up for you! You can currently spread the cost over 18 months and that includes the tools and materials.

When is the course published?
The course videos are professionally filmed by a film crew and edited and are released on a Monday. You can watch them when you are ready on your schedule.
The fortnightly Zoom Q&As with your mentor are purposely scheduled for different time zones. We ask you for your availability and match you up with a mentor group.

After the marking, do you send the pieces back?
Yes. Once your mentor has marked your work and the marking period has ended, the pieces are returned to our warehouse and they are returned to you. You pay for shipping to us and we pay for shipping back to you.

If I want to buy my own tools and materials (stones etc.) can you provide a list of what I’d need to buy?
Yes you can find the full tools and materials list here https://www.jewellersacademy.com/diploma-toolkit

Does everyone that completes the course end up selling jewellery as a business?
Good question! Some people complete the course because they want to invest time in their hobby. However, most people start their own jewellery businesses. Some go to work for other jewellers or work as a bench jeweller (working from their own space making for other jewellers)

How do I find out the price of the course?
The course costs the same regardless of where you are in the world. The tools and materials kits do differ in price to cover the cost of shipping. There are different payment options as you can choose to pay in full or spread the cost over 18 months. You can find all the payment options here >
