what’s your word of the year for 2024? Setting yourself up for success and setting your intention
Blog
Happy new year! Today on the Jewellers Academy podcast I am speaking with Anna Campbell about our word for 2024.
Have you ever chosen a word of the year?
If you like starting a new year with a fresh perspective but don’t like the idea of resolutions then give this a try.
The premise is to choose one word that sums up what you want 2024 to be about for you. This word then becomes a great theme for what you want your year to look like and you can look back on it when you are making decisions.

How do I choose my word?
Think about your hopes and aims for 2024, both personally and for your jewellery business. Is there just one word or theme you can choose to sum this up?
If nothing pops up for you immediately it is a useful exercise to look through the list of words above and see which resonate with you. Write down a shortlist of words and then leave it aside for a while and come back to it.
Look again at the words and see which jumps out for you and represents your hopes for 2024. Often the right word will have a lot of different meanings for you and will be the obvious choice. If that’s not the case for you don’t worry! Let your unconscious mind have some time to process this and come back to your list later.
what words did Anna and I choose?
Do have a listen to this episode of the podcast (the player is below) as we talk about the words we chose for 2024 and for previous years.
Jess’ words of the year
2024 - nurture
2023 - calm and creative
2022 - connect
Anna’s words of the year
2024 - together
2023 - easy
2022 - harmony
How to use your word
Once you have decided on your word write it down somewhere you can see it every day. You may even want to create a piece of art with it, buy a postcard with it on or make a piece of jewellery with it on.
In the busyness of day-to-day-life use the word as a touchstone - something to go back and look at regularly to ensure you’re on track and that what you are doing is moving you towards your goals.
I find choosing and using my word a very powerful way of shaping my year so I hope you will give it a try alongside me.
