ABOUT JULIA
Julia Rai is an artist, writer and teacher working predominately in metal clay. Well known in the international metal clay community, she has been working with metal clay since 2004 and teaching it since 2007. She has a busy teaching studio based near her home in Cornwall, UK. Julia is on the executive board of the Alliance for Metal Clay Arts Worldwide (AMCAW) and chairs the Curating for Excellence committee and the Member Engagement committee. She is a regular guest tutor on Craftcast presenting live online metal clay related classes and has recorded online classes for the Jewellers Academy. She is the director, webmaster, editor and researcher for the Metal Clay Academy, an online metal clay resource which she launched in 2008. Between 2008 and 2019 Julia worked on projects for the metal clay Masters Registry which closed in June 2019. She attained Registry Level 5, the only person in the world to achieve this level. Her first book, Making Metal Clay Jewellery, was published in 2017.
